A sign of the times… and it will ONLY get WORSE for cyclists! :-(

This particular story, another vehicle operator verses cyclist confrontation has been heating up all bicycle forums on the web. Portland bicyclist photographed throwing bike lock at motorist during road-rage incident, is (Regrettably) merely the tip of the iceberg for all cyclists. I personally have already quit counting how many incidents I’ve already had this year and I’m not even doing that much on city street cycling at the moment.Sad smile Admittedly, my take on this is a cyclist was chastising a motorist for attempting to make a right hand turn at a red light, even though there was a sign stating that was not allowed at that intersection. Another vehicle operator saw this and decided to jump into the fray, with their own opinion of the matter and things just escalated from there; with the cyclist spitting on or towards the motorist and the motorist retuning the favor. THAT was WRONG for both parties to resort to that kind of behavior. The cyclist (Initially) should have never spat on or even towards the motorist!Steaming madFast forward to the  u lock being tossed at the motorist was still another poor choice for the cyclist to have made. BUT… if the vehicle operator was driving (As stated) in an aggressive manner, nearly hitting the cyclist, they did have the right to defend themselves.

Blah blah blah, the story could go on and on; but the point I want to make here is, confrontations like this will continue and sadly ESCALATE as vehicle operators continue to pursue getting cyclists off of streets permanently. Again (IMHO) all of this goes back to that technology addiction that this entire world continues to surrender to, unconditionally. Instant gratification, the snap of a finger and God forbid you get held up for even a few seconds by one of those old school bicyclists out there! They need to get off the road now, so us vehicle operators can get where we need to go ASAP.Annoyed Admittedly, it’s only a matter of time, when this war will be over and the bicycle (At least hpv {Human powered vehicle} wise) will be put out to pasture, like land line phone, film, VCR, floppy disk and so many other last century innovations. It’s a new world out there folks and bicycling is not part of the equation!Annoyed
