Hello EZ, I get the feeling you are into all kinds of bicycling ; but wondering if any particular kind is your favorite? Signed Eric
Hello Eric, thanks for your email and the answer to your question is… Randonneuring! Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.
Admittedly, I have not actually done any of these kinds of events; but they are the particular bike direction I’m really hoping to move into, in the very near future. I like the fact that you technically are not competing with anyone; just yourself, the road course and the ultimate reward of completing the event in reasonably good shape.I have a lot of fellow bicycling friends that are total fanatics for this kind of bicycling philosophy and I have never heard any negative issues about it. For anyone interesting in reading more about this; here is the link to read more about these FUN and healthy events.
