WOOOOHooooo! I can see the light!!!

Hey EZ Biker Friends! What appeared to be a potential extended furlough from my blog, has happily been nearly resolved! I’m still loading stuff back onto my resurrected computer; BUT things are looking good! Obviously there’s some LESSONS, I have learned from this ordeal and I will surely be passing them on at my blog, with the appropriate photo as well…  :-)

Bike shop owner hints… Better CM events to come…

Hey EZ Biker, there seems to be a local recumbent friendly bike shop owner, that seems to be thinking: “So maybe there is hope for a better Mass in the future.” Sounds like they are in favor of such events… Your thoughts? Signed, Eric

Hey Eric, thanks for your email and yes, I happen to see that post at a local recumbent forum. I know the bike shop owner and he’s a really Great guy, runs an excellent bike shop and I respect his opinion, even if I don’t AGREE with it. :-) Without jumping up on my soap box (AGAIN) and giving my views on CM… AGAIN; if I honestly thought any positive thing would come out of these events, I’d be out there on the front line in the road, leading the pack and likewise doing so on my blog. Maybe even change my blog to (Which IS available, via BUT alas, I believe I’d have to witness a certain happenstance…, but for I’d consider entertaining those kind of thoughts…

3rd time to use this sign at my blog… Is EZ getting forgetful?

NOOOO! I have NOT gotten to that stage of life yet… Give me a few more hours… ;-) But a recent article posted at CNN: Drivers, bicyclists clash on road sharing just (SADLY) FITS this sign perfectly!!! What’s even MORE DISTURBING… is reading some of the response comments… :-(

Sometimes its the LITTLE things...

...that can cost you a bike sale. A very good friend of mine asked me to check out a fold bike they were interested in and I subsequently ordered it. Upon arrival, my LBS mechanic advised me that the bike was really not properly packed and parts were strewn all over in the box. This immediately raised a red flag and upon closer inspection, I found chipped parts on the frame... of this so-called NEW bike. The company graciously allowed me to return the bike, less the shipping and I was appreciative of that. BUT the lesson here is for sellers to TAKE TIME AND PROPERLY PACK your product, before it leaves your warehouse. And for buyers, BE SURE AND LOOK THE PRODUCT OVER CLOSELY, especially if it was something that was shipped to you. :-)

Interesting items… Might be GREAT for commute bikes… :-)

Here’s an interesting innovation that allows your rear tire to be pumped up automatically while the rim is spinning. Found this at the following BROL post thread.

Breaking News! EZ’s Computer woes… :-(

Yes EZ Biker Friends my posts of late have been some what erratic… BECAUSE… my computer of 1 year 2 months, got HOSED this past weekend… Not a virus, Trojan or anything like that. My graphics (Which may be defective) board may be the issue. So, it’s being addressed; but my posts may not be consistent  for a short while. Sorry about that! :-(

Happens on May 19th, 2010

Hello EZ, we have kept in touch with your blog for some time. I see where you don't really support the annual Ride Of Silence event. So I guess we can expect you to pass on this again? Signed Jake & Sue

Jake & Sue, Thanks for your email. As you can see in my past posts, (Do a search of my blog: “ride of silence”) this is an event, I respect very much; BUT it's something I prefer not to be part of; simply because it has the potential to cause traffic issues. And, like Critical Mass events; I just don't see a positive outcome, when you basically cause traffic jams and pis... off vehicle operators. I believe an interactive blog, website or perhaps combining it with an annual bike event, would be a more positive, more visible and enduring effect. Having said this I do Sincerely wish all the ROS participants a SAFE Ride though! :-) :-) :-)

OT – How to embed / send image in Google Gmail!

image Hummm, may have to look into a new blog titled… EZ Geek??? ;-) For the longest time, I had been able to drag an online image into Google Gmail (Using Fir Fox Browser) or copy and past the same image into Gmail using MS exploder… (Which I never use now) BUT then something happen in when you tried to do that, this green box popped up in Gmail allowing you to only add it as an attachment. BOO! :-( BUT NOW, Gmail has finally worked around this! Here’s what you need to do!

1. Go to your Gmail account

2. Click on settings, click on labs

3. Scroll down to Inserting images (Seen in the tan box above) and click on enable

4. Save your settings and go back to Gmail and compose an email. You will then see a little photo icon, as you can see in the box (Above) with the red arrow pointing at it and click on it. Follow the prompts to embed either a photo on the web or from your computer! You now have Greeting Card Gmail Capability!!! :-) Added note, sometimes some email clients have filters and the image may be blocked. So I include the link of the picture (If from the web) as well. Or an attachment, if from my computer. Here’s the link to Gmail Blog that details this process as well. :-) Signed… EZ Geek…….. ;-)

No longer Christian Proud and Anti Critical Mass… EZ???

Hey EZ, LOVE your site and I visit it often. I’m curious as to a couple of your side bar pictures are no gone. Are you no longer Christian Proud and do you now support Critical Mass? Signed Wanda

LOL… Hey Wanda, Thanks for your email and WOW, you seem to be the only one that noticed a few things missing. And YES, I’m still Christian Proud and YES, I’m still not a fan of CM events. :-) I had a few visitors advise me, that a few sidebar photos were not being seen when they reached my site and after checking out an enclosed photo, I decided to temporarily pull them and see if I can sort out the HTML and make them work for everyone’s browser. They will return soon! :-)

To ALL You WONDERFUL Moms out there!!!! :-) :-) :-)

Great Gif from

THIS… Just has to be a Portland Thing………….. ;-0

Quote from A time-honored Portland tradition, the Pretty Dress Ride is always a blast. The only rule of the ride is that everyone must wear a pretty dress (guys, that means us too). The event starts with croquet in the park and ends with eating from food carts. Pretty Dress Ride. Update- 5/9/2010: Here’s some photos from last years event.

Seen at BROL front page. Catrike 700 in RAAM. Catrike 700 in RAAM. In the forum, here’s a thread 2010 RAAM on Catrike 700 that tells more about this TREMENDOUS endeavor and the specific website and lastly his facebook link, that’s a MUST SEE! Out of all the RAAM entrants, the story of this young man and his bout with Friedriech's Ataxia that’s slowly stealing his life away, makes his participation in RAAM, even MORE EXTRAORDINARY!!! Watching this video, has left me in absolute tears and THIS is a person / team I’ll be watching and cheering the hardest for in RAAM 2010!!! :-)

BREAKING News! Bicyclists & Pedestrians UNDER ATTACK!!! Shields Up! Make that call and / or send that email!!! :-0

Quoted from the Florida Bicycle Association (FBA) Blog

HB 971 Bad for Bicyclists and Pedestrians

Unbeknownst to Florida Bicycle Association, a mandatory bike lane use provision was included in the Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles bill.  The bill also allows local governments to permit mopeds, golf-carts and other motorized vehicles on sidewalks and trails.

Call or email Governor Crist as soon as you can to ask him to veto this bill. Executive Office of the Governor Switchboard: (850) 488-7146; Email:

If you’re on Facebook, post the link to this blog post to spread the word!

Why it’s bad for bicyclists:

Motorists who learn of the bill will have one more very strong excuse to harass cyclists who “aren’t in the bike lane.” There are many striped-off areas of roadways that are not really bike lanes, but some believe they are. They will also likely be ignorant of all the exceptions to the law (because they’ll hear it second hand) and even if they read it in full, they won’t understand many of the good reasons cyclists need to leave bike lanes.

The bicyclist outside a bike lane is put in a defensive position and must prove his or her innocence. Many bike lanes are substandard in width, force cyclists into door zones, or are improperly placed to the right of right-turn-only lanes, but many officers don’t understand these problems.

Motorists get another new excuse when they hit a cyclist: “He left the bike lane.”

Why it’s bad for pedestrians:

It’s bad enough that pedestrians have to suffer parked cars blocking sidewalks, being blasted by sprinklers, sidewalk bicyclists who don’t announce themselves when passing, and thousands of other nuisances, now they’ll have to share stretches of sidewalk in some jurisdictions with motorized vehicles.  Local governments will be able to permit mopeds, golf-carts, motorized scooters and other vehicles which don’t belong on sidewalks and on “bike paths.”  The law limits such vehicles to 15 mph, but how will that be enforced?

Currently on the books: 316.1995  Driving upon sidewalk or bicycle path.–No person shall drive any vehicle other than by human power upon a bicycle path, sidewalk, or sidewalk area, except upon a permanent or duly authorized temporary driveway. (page 10 of the combination Florida Bicycle/Pedestrian Law Enforcement Guide)

It’s time for Florida’s bicyclists and pedestrians to send a strong message: “We will not be marginalized.”

The bill also allows drivers who have had up to four DUIs to get their licenses back.  From a Jacksonville TV station:

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — If you get four DUI’s in Florida, you could lose your driving privileges. However, if passed, a bill would allow drivers with four DUI’s to get their licenses back.

The driver would have to go through a program, which includes educational classes and installing a breathalyzer in his or her vehicle. The device is called Life Safer Interlock, and costs about $70 to install and about $80 a month to maintain.

Call now.

Not as exciting as Desperate Housewives… BUT every bit of exposure HELPS! :-)

I found this little news blip initially on the front page of BROL. Then on the following thread. Here’s the link to a video of the show. At about 2 minutes into show, you will get to see the little beasties!!! :-)

Please try and avoid this area this evening… :-(

I have gotten numerous emails about this… event and NO, I will not be part of it. Obviously anyone else has the freedom of choice to participate; just keep in mind, that you are HARMING bicycling MORE, instead of helping promote it. :-( Here are my previous links and links concerning this and a map link of the area. UPDATE: 5-2-2010 - Well I heard that about 100 cyclists showed up for this event, including a few recumbent folks I know. I would have thought the recumbent people would have more respect for trying to keep bicycling in a positive light; BUT… to each their own. :-(

Cool Book Cover of the day!!!

This sounds like a GREAT Book read. For more information here’s the link. :-)
