""PLEASE""" Be SAFE IF YOU GO OUT TONIGHT!!!!!
Well the New Year is almost here and once again, I have a BIG Favor to ask of all my Friends and Visitors. PLEASE be careful if you go out tonight! Back in my disco duck club days, we had a name for THIS SPECIFIC Night... Armature Night. A night with a whole different breed of people that clearly were not old pros in the consuming of alcohol. Trust me folks, I use to DJ in front of some VERY STRANGE people on this night and I shuddered at the thought that I'd be on the road with some of these very DRUNK and very not use to be VERY DRUNK folks. (Not that I use to get very drunk... ;-/ - Of course I don't drink alcohol anymore either) SO PLEASE, be careful, have that designated driver or cab fair and money handy, if you don't feel you can make it home or you have a friend that should not be on the road!!!
ABSOLUTELY """HEART-BREAKING""" NEWS! Recumbent Cyclist News (RCN) ENDS PUBLICATION!
It is with PROFOUND Heart Breaking SADNESS that Recumbent Cyclist News (RCN) has announced it has ended it's publication and has closed it's doors! This publication has been around for 16 years and was the only publication I renewed back when I hit rock bottom financially wise back in 1995. I'm truly SADDEN by this news and I Sincerely wish Bob Bryant and Family the best! This is clearly a SAD DAY for recumbency! :-( :-( :-(Update: 12-28-07: I have had numerous emails inquiring about my statement “when I hit rock bottom financially” back in 1995. That was primarily due to my FAILED INVENTIONS endeavor, I’ve continuously stated I’d be posting soon… for over a year now… ;-) In the meantime, a little more info about my statement can be found at BROL, on readers reactions to RCN demise and my post at BROL.
ONE WEEK to make it a GO!!!!!!!!!!!!
WELL EZ Biker Friends,I hope you all had a REALLY Wonderful Christmas! SOOOO, here's a rather daunting challenge for old EZ here... ;-) I have cleared the 7000 thousand mile mark for this year and that's an unbelievable fete for me, that I've never achieved in all my years of cycling. BUT now, I've gone actually past that and am NOW ONLY SLIGHTLY LESS THAN 500 miles away from accomplishing the 8000 mile mark! SOOOO, the question is... CAN I POSSIBLY ACHIEVE THAT GOAL BEFORE 2008??????? Check in on January 1st and find out!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAPPY HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!
WELL it's time to take a pause and Sincerely Thank all who have come to visit my humble little blog! Your visits and emails mean so much to me! Here's Wishing Everyone a most Happy and safe Holiday Season! I'm so already looking forward to a new and even more exciting New Year and I likewise wish the same for you all!!!
Sincerely, Ken aka EZ Biker :-)
Participating in Holiday Parade with my decorated recumbent? Not after seeing this... ;-)
WELL EZ Biker Friends, once again I have been approached to participate in a local Holiday parade with of course Holiday lighting as well. BUT I'm sorry, after reading a post at BROL about dekochari bikes and then seeing some in broad daylight at the following blog site; WEEEEEEEELL, I can't find the motivation to EVEN attempt to decorate my bike up like THESE PARADE BIKE PROS do!!! ;-)
Added thought... I wonder how they do going up hills? ;-) ;-) ;-)
Breaking News! Bacchetta NOW has a BLOG site!
While browsing the Bacchetta forum I came upon this bit of news. Bacchetta now has it's own blog site up and running! Go check it out and read up on some really interesting posts!
One of those... DUHHH discoveries... ;-)
Usually when I'm needing to make a stop, where I actually have to get up and off my bike; I have to un-clip my Camel back hose clip from my shirt and fumble finding some where to put it or just let it dangle... BUT today I had one of those magical (Great idea!) moments and discovered a really great place to quickly attach and detach my bladder hose clip. Right on the edge of my m% bike seat as seen in the photo. WOW! Now it's much easier to un-clip, clip to the seat and un-clip and back to my shirt! (Ummmm, did that make any sense?) ;-)
In bicycling; what is brushing?
Dear EZ Biker, my name is Pam and I'm 10 years old. My bicycling parents visit your site and today I was looking at it too. Recumbent bicycles are really COOL. I'm wondering about something that I heard from my Father recently. While riding he stated he had gotten "brushed". I asked him and he responded, that's when a vehicle comes real close to you while bicycling. Is there some sort of photo or something that shows this action?
Pam, Thank You for your really nice email! I hope you do some bicycling with them as well. :-) And yes your Fathers definition of brushing is correct. Recently at BROL (Bent Riders On Line) there was a thread that also includes a Youttube demonstration of that very act. Needless to say, you have to be VERY ALERT and CAREFUL at all times when bicycling on public streets! NEVER anticipate or expect any vehicle operator to do the expected! :-)
Breaking News! * EZ Biker surpasses mileage goal by 1000 miles!!!
Yes EZ Biker Friends, this year has been a memorable one for me! Doing Sebring and the MS 150, along with numerous other bike events has helped me surpass my original 6000 miles goal! Wooohooo! In Bike Journal I'm in the mid 200's and needless to say, I'm enjoying this achievement!
Pearl Harbor will always be remembered!
My heart and Prayers go out to all those that served, Gallantly died and to the survivors still today at Pearl Harbor on this it's anniversary.
PLEASE check your Charge Card APR % NOW!!! :-/ :-/ :-/
OK, EZ Biker Friends, admittedly this post is clearly off-topic, BUT I honestly feel the need to alert as many of my friends and visitors to a really SNEAKY stunt, your charge card company or bank might have pulled on you. For those that have a specifically "Bank Issued Card", YOU NEED TO IMMEDIATELY CHECK YOUR STATEMENT "NOW"!!!
Briefly here's the issue. I was lured over to a certain Banks MC card with a "Promise" that as long as I kept my payments current and didn't borrow any cash from my card, that my APR (Annual Percent Rate) rate would remain at 9.90%. WELL guess what? On my statement this month, that "PROMISE" apparently was discontinued, due to a "Corporate Decision" stated by a certain bank's representative I CHATTED............... with today....... Never mind, I had met all their previous requirements, along with paying at times $75.00+ over the minimum payment required and never once being late with a payment. Now that sounds like a pretty good customer to me and yet, apparently that's not good enough for that company.
Needless to say, I'm paying my balance off immediately, closing my account and will be including their cut in half charge card in the same letter sent to them immediately.
Inlet Challenge - Kids In Distress 2
Sunday, December 2 saw me getting up and heading to the Inlet Challenge event number 2 for me. Last year I managed to come in ahead of everyone else in the 62 mile event. BUT this year, WEEEEEEEEL, I managed to come in period... ;-) I think I did way too many attacks on the lead 62 milers and ended up with my legs going PSSSSSSSSSSSS on the last bridge, heading back to the event finish. But I did manage to hang with the BIG Dogs for a little time, so the event was a success in my thinking. Some notable snafus... Some radio rock station was there, blasting out the music and when it came time to begin the event, NO microphone... :-/ And this is suppose to be a professional radio station? HA! No message tables were seen upon my return. :-( And the so-called pasta was some sort of shrimp mixed with pasta noodles... Euuuuuuw! I passed on the lunch... As I was PLODDING back towards home, one of 2 roadies came up on me and one gave off a SNIFFY sort of attitude, outa my way, you special needs cyclist and you know where that went. Despite being TIRED, HUNGRY and HOT, I kicked the Aero into overdrive and dropped Mr. Sniffy like a two ton brick. Hey I'm an easy going guy, but don't turn your nose up or glare at me like me and my recumbent don't deserve to be on the same road as you. :-/ I managed to hang with 28+ mph roadie and that at least made my home ride go by faster!!! :-) :-) :-)
